The City Council of Big Bear Lake meets for their second regular meeting of the month this evening at 6:30pm in Hofert Hall at the Big Bear Lake Civic Center. This evening’s agenda includes one Public Hearing item, regarding Big Bear Mountain Resorts’ request to operate the inter-mountain express shuttle, between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, on streets including Evergreen Drive as an alternate route on peak weekends and holidays which, per the city staff report, may include up to 25 days during the ski season. The City has already received a number of letters in opposition to the vehicle permit request which, if approved, would be in operation on said days between 9:30am and 5:30pm. This evening’s City Council meeting, which is open to the public, is also scheduled to include a presentation on Big Bear Lake’s LiveGreen program; staff will review local programs, services and new opportunities, including a website, related to Green Initiatives. This morning at 8:30am, Big Bear Lake’s Planning Commission and Improvement Agency met to discuss proposals presented by affordable housing development teams on September 22.
Update: Big Bear Mountain Resort’s vehicle permit request has been pulled from the City Council agenda.
The City’s Improvement Agency did approve two workforce housing projects, to be constructed on Jeffries Road and Sandalwood Drive. More details to come!
