Big Bear, Ca, February 8, 2011, 12:00 pm – The California Highway Patrol will be holding a Smart Start class on Wednesday, February 16 for new drivers and their parents. The Smart Start Program is a cooperative effort between the CHP, parents, and teen drivers. The goal is to help teens and their parents understand the responsibilities involved in driving, and how poor choices made when behind the wheel can change lives. The leading cause of death for American between the ages of 15 and 20 is car accidents. The purpose of the Smart Start Program is to reduce the number of injuries and deaths due to collisions. The February 16 class will be held the the Municipal Water District building at 40524 Lakeview Drive in Big Bear Lake. There is no cost to attend but teen drivers and their parents must RSVP before Monday, February 14. Call Officer Baker at 867-2791 to reserve seats for the class.
