Big Bear, Ca, April 27, 2011, 3:00pm – A celebration of life for Dr. Robert Davies Jr. will take place Saturday, April 30th, at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center at 11:00am. Friends and family are invited to come celebrate in the life of one of Big Bear’s founding fathers. Dr. Davies passed away early Sunday morning, on March 20th at the age of 80. Dr. Davies moved to Big Bear Lake in 1970, and opened up his own dental practice. Dr. Davies became immediately involved with community organizations such as the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake, Chamber of Commerce, Old Miners Association, the Bear Valley Hospital foundation and many others. Dr. Davies was instrumental in helping the city to become incorporated in the 70’s, then later served on City Council in 1990, and served as the Mayor of Big Bear Lake from 1993 to 1994. Dr. Robert Davies is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan.
