Big Bear, CA, September 3rd, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation will install permanent stop signs on State Route 38 at the intersection of Stanfield Cutoff on the North Shore of Big Bear Lake in Fawnskin.
Currently there are two stop signs: one on Stanfiel Cutoff at SR 38 and another across SR 38 for motorists leaving the Caltrans Maintenance Facility and VCA Lakeside Animal Hospital in Fawnskin. The two new stop signs will be installed on SR 38 at the Stanfield Cutoff intersection for east/west traffic on Monday, September 12, 2016.
The stop signs were requested by San Bernardino County, Third District Supervisor, James Ramos, after his constituents brought concerns to his attention earlier this year. Caltrans worked closely with Supervisor Ramos to address those concerns with the installation of the additional stop movements for both directions of SR 38 at Stanfield Cutoff based on Caltrans warrants, population growth in the local communities and increased traffic.
The intersection will be a four way stop once the new installation is completed. Temporary signage was placed Tuesday, August 9th, by Caltrans to advise motorists of the upcoming stop sign installation.
