San Bernardino, CA, April 5, 2012, 8:00am – Caltrans announced on Wednesday that Syed Raza would be the Acting Director for District 8 beginning April 12, 2012. District 8 encompasses both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and is geographically the largest of the 12 statewide Caltrans districts in California. The current Director, Dr. Raymond Wolfe, will leave the Department after a successful career with Caltrans to take a position as Executive Director for San Bernardino Associated Governments, known as SANBAG. Syed has been with Caltrans since 1991 and is currently the Deputy District Director in Traffic Operations for District 8. He has held multiple management positions in the District including Acting Deputy District Director for Project Management and Right of Way, Corridor Director for the $1.3 billion State Route 91 Corridor Improvement Project and Office Chief in Traffic Operations. In 2011, he received the prestigious Karl Moskovitz Award in recognition of his services to the district.
