Cal State San Bernardino’s application period for the fall 2010 semester begins October 1st—in less than two days—and prospective students are encouraged to apply during the priority application period, extending through November 30. In the past, CSUSB has accepted applications after the priority application period. However, because of severe reductions to the California State University budget, fewer students will be admitted during the coming year and the closing date for applications has not been determined. Those who apply during the October 1 through November 30 priority application period will have a better opportunity to gain fall 2010 admission, provided they qualify and complete all of the necessary requirements for admission. Olivia Rosas, Cal State San Bernardino’s director of admissions, says, “The state budget crisis has made it crucial for students to apply to Cal State San Bernardino as soon as the priority application period opens. There’s a place for eligible students here at CSUSB, but they need to apply on time, because there will be fewer openings next year at our university and at all of the CSU campuses.” High school seniors can submit applications online at CSUmentor.edu. And, adds Rosas, “The next step after getting admitted to the university is to secure financial assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and so on.” On Saturday, October 17, Cal State San Bernardino hosts a financial fair for teens and their parents. Free workshops on the 17th will address not just college-related info, but also credit cards, saving for the future, interviewing skills and car ownership.
