Big Bear Lake, CA, November 1, 2012, 11am – Bear Valley Electric Service is sending a Restoration Crew of five linemen and an Engineering Inspector to the east coast to help in emergency power restoration efforts following the devastation from Superstorm Sandy. The storm has caused power outages to about 8 million customers in 15 states. The restoration travel team is all local residents of Big Bear, and will join with crews from other utilities to help install and repair power poles, transformers and power lines that have been damaged by the storm. The team is expected to be gone for two to four weeks. The initial staging site is located in New Jersey. Big Bear customers will not be effected by any of the expense in their rates.
