Big Bear Lake, CA, September 20, 2013 – Marcus Armstrong is the newly appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear Lake.
Armstrong received his MBA in Health Care Management at the University of Phoenix in 2009 and his BS in Business Administration w/Accounting emphasis at College of the Ozarks in 1987. He started his 26-year healthcare career as an auditor at BKD, a public accounting firm based in Springfield, Missouri, and has since worked in financial management for several hospitals. In addition, he has worked as a reimbursement consultant preparing 3rd party governmental cost reports for healthcare clients. Prior to coming to Bear Valley, he served as the CFO of Carson Valley Medical Center, a 23-bed critical access hospital located in Gardnerville, Nevada.
Hospital CEO Raymond Hino says, “Marcus comes with sterling references and I’m very confident that he will be a good CFO for years to come.”
Outside of work, Armstrong enjoys hiking, golfing, fishing, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family. He previously helped found a Boy Scout troop in Nevada and served as its Chartered Organization Representative and Committee Chair. He also graduated in the inaugural class of the Douglas County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and is a graduate of the 2012 class of Leadership in Douglas County. He has several licensure achievements that include receiving a Private Pilot License with instruments and multi-engine ratings.
Armstrong plans to live full time in Big Bear with his wife of 17 years and their two sons. The public will have an opportunity to meet him at an upcoming workshop in November.
