Big Bear Lake, CA, August 13, 2015 – It has been a busy week for Big Bear law enforcement. On August 8th, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Big Bear Station responded to several reports of gunshots heard in Big Bear Lake. Deputies were directed to a residence in the 39000 block of Lark Spur as the possible source of the gunshots. They were confronted by Michael Demayo on the front deck where he pointed a revolver at the deputies. He was later arrested without injuries. Deputies found the revolver, on the porch, along with empty shell casings. Demayo was booked for assault with a firearm on a peace officer and negligent discharge of a firearm.
On Monday, August 10 deputies responded to the report of a Burglary and Assault in the 42000 block of Evergreen in Big Bear Lake. Suspect, Dennis Pitner, went to the victim’s home and used a large rock to break in the unlocked front door of the home, then used the rock to damage the interior wall, he then assaulted the residents of the home. Pitner resisted arrest but was taken into custody. Pitner’s unusual behavior is under investigation and may be related to intoxication and/or psychiatric issues.
On Wednesday, August 12 deputies of the Multi-Enforcement Team arrested 6 males and 2 females while conducting routine probation checks and attempting to locate subjects with active warrants. The Multi-Enforcement Team of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is a proactive crew of deputies who routinely work with patrol deputies, County Probation officers, and State Parole officers to regularly conduct home visits and searches on local parolees and probationers.
