UPDATE – 7/16/17 – Bridge fire 70% contained, 460 acres. A total of 300 Firefighters are working a wildland fire burning north of Greenspot Road north of the Iron Bridge near the City of Highland.
UPDATE: 6:15 AM 7/15/17 – A total of 500 firefighters are assigned to the “Bridge” fire. Hot temperatures and dry fuel will be the challenge today. Smoke may be visible in the Barton Flats and Big Bear Valley today. The fire is located neat the communities of Mentone, Highland and Redlands. The fire is now being reported as 450 acres in size and is 20% contained. Highway 38 is open but travelers may want to consider taking an alternate route to and from Big Bear.
UPDATE: 6:07PM – A total of 420 firefighters are working the Bridge Fire burning north of Greenspot Road north of the Iron Bridge. The fire remains at 350 acres at this time with 5% containment. Service roads are closed near Greenspot Road in the City of Highland in the vicinity of Hwy 38. Because the fire is fast moving, it is advisable to take an alternative route other than Hwy 38 although Hwy 38 is open.
Firefighters are working a wildland fire which began this afternoon at about 3:30pm burning on the west side of State Highway 38, 1/2 mile south of Iron Bridge (north to Iron Bridge). The fire is at 350 acres with 0% containment.
