Big Bear, Ca, December 30, 2010, 12:00pm – The Breakthrough Task Force, a coalition of local residents concerned about the problems that result from alcohol and drug use, encourages all local alcohol-related businesses to do their part to promote safety during the holidays, and the whole year through. They also remind everyone celebrating this holiday season, to CELEBRATE RESPONSIBLY!! When motorists foolishly decide to drive under the influence, crashes become inevitable with property damage, injury and death becoming all too common during the holiday season. The danger posed by DUI drivers is intensified in our mountain communities during the holiday season, when road conditions are already a challenge for even the most experienced drivers due to rain, mud, ice and snow. In an effort to reduce the number of DUI incidents on the mountain, many local businesses that sell alcohol are utilizing responsible beverage sales and service strategies to help reduce the sale of alcohol to underage persons as well as to those who are already intoxicated. In an effort to prevent DUI incidents before they occur, the Big Bear Lake Resort Association sends a pre-recorded telephone message to all guests who have reserved a room through their organization. Other Businesses such as Big Bear Mountain Resorts train their employees with Tips (Training for Intervention Procedures), and provide non-alcoholic drinks to designated drivers at no cost.
