The Biggest Losers have been named in the second round of the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District’s fitness program, Big Bear’s Biggest Loser. This round included four teams and a total of 32 participants, who lost a combined total of 245 pounds in nine weeks. Two of the biggest losers for their respective teams are Bob and Maria Lischke, who had been the top male and female losers—or winners—in the first round of the program in 2008. This year’s title also belongs to Stephanie Thoth and Kelley Schetter, both of whom lost the most weight on their respective teams; the Red Team alone lost over 80 pounds and over 4½% of their initial weight. Glenn Jacklin, Rec and Park’s Recreation Superintendent who oversaw the program, tells KBHR that it’s not just about the pounds. “We’re creating lifestyle changes with diet and exercise,” he says. Those interested in participating in the third round of Big Bear’s Biggest Loser can contact the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District, as plans are underway to continue the program in the summer months. In the meantime, congratulations to Big Bear’s Biggest Losers: Bob Lischke, Maria Lischke, Stephanie Thoth and Kelley Schetter.
