Big Bear, CA, February 1st, 2016 – Some say life is a marathon, not a sprint… but even the marathon finally comes to an end.
Olympian Ryan Hall has reached the end to a portion of his marathon journey, announcing his retirement from competitive racing. It was a journey that began in the San Bernardino mountains and led Hall to appearances on two Olympic games, traveling to four continents over an eight year career.
The 33-year-old Hall established a reputation for an aggressive tempo, not the usual approach for an endurance runner.
In announcing his professional retirement, Hall said;
“It was very clear to me that while my heart, mind and emotions still want to run fast, my body has nothing left to give me,” Hall said in an email interview with the Press Enterprise “Anytime you ignore the signs your body is telling you then you eventually have the pay the price for it.”
Hall came to prominence running for Big Bear High School.
Among his accomplishments are the American records for the half marathon and the Boston Marathon.
