Big Bear Lake Resident Christopher Sop Dies In Bicycle Accident

Big Bear,Ca, July 19, 2011, 12:00pm – Local 23 year old resident of Big Bear Lake Christopher Sop passed away yesterday after being involved in a bicycle accident.  According to the California Highway Patrol, Sop was riding his bike northbound on Forest Road 2n10 near the Mill Creek Area in Big Bear Lake when he approached a right curve at an unsafe speed, and lost control of his bike.  Sop conducted an unsafe turning movement and ran off the roadway when his bike became airborne.  Sop was ejected from his bike and struck his head on a large rock.  According to the CHP Sop was wearing no safety equipment, such as a helmet.  Sop was pronounced dead at the scene.  Although state law only requires those 18 and under wear a helmet, it is highly recommended that everyone wear a helmet for their protection.
