Possible Changes For Big Bear Lake Fire Department

Big Bear, Ca, January 13, 2011, 8:00am – At the June 28, 2010 Fireboard Meeting the Fire Board moved to direct the fire chief and the city manager to draft a Request for Proposal or RFP to seek proposals from qualified fire agencies for fire services.  City and fire staff have since developed an RFP, which was approved at the January 12^th Fire Protection District will be sent to CALFIRE, San Bernardino County Fire, and other qualified local fire agencies for presentations and bids for providing fire protection and other emergency services within the Big Bear Lake Fire Protection District.  If an agency completes the RFP and is chosen to take over Big Bear Lake Fire Department, the Fire Department will have more access to equipment, and personnel.  The approval was decided with a 4-1 vote with Councilman Jay Obernolte voting against approval of the RFP.
