The City of Big Bear Lake City Council meets tonight for their regularly scheduled meeting. Items on the consent calendar include the authorization of council members to allow staff to advertise for vacancies for two members on the Department of Water and Power Board and three members on the Planning Commission for seats that will expire in June. Council will also vote on letting staff negotiate a commercial marina permit with the Municipal Water District at Boulder Bay Park. Project plans include a fishing dock, temporary mooring dock and a boat launch ramp for non-motorized watercraft. Council members will discuss entering into an agreement with the County of San Bernardino so that the City of Big Bear Lake may receive $22,505 from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for law enforcement funding. Other items to be discussed at this evening’s meeting include the City’s sponsorship of the Sierra Club’s 7th Annual Xeriscape Garden Tour and launching a green business beautification program both as part of the City’s Green Sustainability Outreach program. Council will discuss approval of sponsoring the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce for the 2009 Big Bear Economic Summit. Public hearings will be held regarding the development mitigation fees and there will be an introduction and first reading of an ordinance to provide for the payment of park development impact fees and for approval of projects involving the subdivision of land within the City pursuant to the Quimby Act. Discussion items include the Green Valley Initiative, Green Building Program practices, and consideration of approving an extension of the agreement with Big Bear Disposal as well as consideration of funding options, including securing a USDA loan, for construciton of a new Public Works Yard. City Council meetings are held at Hofert Hall in City Hall beginning at 6:30pm.
