Big Bear Lake, CA, August 24, 2010, 4:00pm – The City of Big Bear Lake City Council met on Monday evening, August 23, 2010. Earlier in the day, Council members interviewed candidates who applied for one seat on each of the Planning Commission and the Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners for terms that extend through June 30, 2013. During the meeting, Council announced the appointees to those positions. An appointment was made by Major Liz Harris and approved by City Council for Robert Jackowski as Planning Commissioner replacing Rich Lambert. Council members unanimously appointed Don Smith to the Board of the Department of Water and Power replacing Karen Dally. At the next regularly scheduled meeting of these agencies, the commissioners will be sworn in. Both Rich Lambert and Karen Dally vacated their positions earlier this year for reasons of relocating out of Big Bear. In other news from Monday night’s Council meeting, Council approved moving forward on the Public Works building with major changes to the design reducing the building cost by nearly 50% to just over $2 million in order to save taxpayer money and cut proposed increases in sewer and refuse fees.
