Big Bear, Ca, November 27, 2015 – Now that the Thanksgiving turkey has been eaten, it’s time to ring in Christmas in Big Bear. Tonight, in the heart of the village, you can join 6000 locals and visitors for the annual Village Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Grand Entrance. Festivities begin at 5:00 pm with entertainment provided by Big Bear’s own Mountain Marvelettes and wandering carolers, The Voices of Christmas. Mayor David Caretto, Supervisor James Ramos, and Assemblyman Jay Obernolte will lead the countdown to officially light the tree. Once the tree is lit, Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride up Pine Knot in an antique fire engine greeting everyone before making their way to the Santa House where they will see children until 9:00 pm.
On Saturday night, the Big Bear Fire Department hosts their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The party starts at 5:00 at the fire station in Big Bear City, with caroling, hot chocolate, cider, coffee, and activities for the kids. Families are asked to bring a plate of cookies to share. The tree will be lit promptly at 5:30 and Santa will be making a special visit. Kids, be sure to bring your wish list.
