Sugarloaf, CA — Big Bear High School’s sluggers have had a victorious week. The Lady Bears varsity softball team had two “nail biters,” coming from behind to beat Desert Mirage 8-7 and, on Thursday, Twentynine Palms in a score of 2-1. The girls JV softball team also defeated Twentynine Palms, in a score of 7-2, making them undefeated in the De Anza League so far this season. The Twentynine Palms varsity baseball team also lost out on Thursday, as the Bears varsity baseball team secured victory in a score of 10-3; Bears pitcher T.J. Follett pitched the entire game with 11 strike-outs and just three hits allowed. Big Bear High School’s baseball and softball teams continue DeAnza League play with games at Yucca Valley on Tuesday, and hosting Citrus Valley here in Big Bear on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking of high school sports, students planning to participate in Big Bear High School athletics next school year will be able to take their athletic physicals on Thursday, April 29; this opportunity at BBHS is available to all current juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Start times on the 29th are 5pm for current juniors, 5:45pm for current sophomores, and 6:30pm for current freshmen. For $60, students can get both their ASB card and the athletic physical; sport-specific and P.E. clothing will also be available for purchase. Current eighth grade students who plan to play sports when freshmen at BBHS next year will have their round of physicals at the high school on Thursday, May 27 starting at 4:45pm.
Update: The baseball and softball games scheduled for Thursday, will instead be played on Friday, April 30, starting at 3pm.
Update as of May 10: Athletic physicals for current eighth grade students will instead be held on Wednesday, May 26. All other details remain the same.
