Big Bear, CA – Firefighter of the Year exemplifies the positive characteristics of a member of the fire service with a notable record of service and achievements. This award is presented to an individual who has given selflessly of themselves in support of the Fire Department, the fire service and the community in general. Firefighter/Paramedic William Schlosser earned that honor this year and was recognized at the Big Bear Elks Lodge on Tuesday, July 11, at their annual Firefighters’ Appreciation Dinner for Big Bear Fire Department firefighters.
Big Bear Fire Department Fire Chief Jeff Willis and Elks Lodge representative Mike Anderson recognized Firefighter Schlosser with plaques commemorating this prestigious award. Firefighter Schlosser was nominated for this distinction by his Captain, Josh Mandolini. Chief Willis stated, “Bill’s natural personality is one that demonstrates what a great mentor should be and one that most of us should strive to become. He exhibits consistent enthusiasm for his time here at the Department and provides guidance without ego or judgement.” Firefighter Schlosser has been with the Department for three years. This is the first time he has been recognized with this award.
