Big Bear, Ca, February 7, 2011, 4:00pm – Good news from the City of Big Bear Lake, the City’s sales tax for this quarter are up 1.8% over the same quarter last year. The strongest sales increases were seen in service stations, restaurants serving liquor, sporting goods/bicycle shops, and electronics/appliance stores. While some of the top producers of revenue were corporate chains such as K-Mart and Vons, a majority of the top 25 producers were locally owned businesses such as Interiors, El Jacalito, Moonridge Fuel, and Riffenburgh Lumber. While there was a slight decrease in revenue from restaurants and hotels in the 3rd quarter, there was a large increase in fuel and service station, and general consumer goods. There was also an increase in building and construction, business and industry, and autos and transportation.
