Big Bear City, Ca, August 20, 2010, 3:00pm – According to the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department, on 08/19/10 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Arthur Valenzuela, a sex registrant, and a resident of Big Bear City, was witnessed at the Sugarloaf Park, while coaching a women’s league softball team. There were several children present at the park during the softball game, and several juveniles were present at the adjacent skate park. As a registered sex offender, Valenzuela is prohibited by law to be within 300 feet of a park per San Bernardino County Code 27.1402 (c). The softball league Valenzuela coached for allowed juveniles to participate with the adults, as needed, during the softball games. Valenzuela was arrested, booked, and later cite-released from the Big Bear Jail for violation of Penal Code 290.95(a) and the above County Code violation.
