Big Bear City, Ca, 92314, December 13, 2010, 12:00pm – Yesterday evening the Big Bear Sheriff’s station responded to the area of Angeles Blvd. and Teal Dr. in Big Bear City, after getting a report that a subject was firing a gun in the neighborhood. According to the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, when they arrived on scene they found several 9mm shell casings in the driveway of where gunshots were heard. Many neighbors also came forward indicating which house the gunfire came from. Deputies went to the residence, however there was no response, when deputies tried to contact the occupants of the house. Based on evidence and concern someone may have been injured by the unprovoked gunfire, a search warrant was written for the suspect residence. When the warrant was served, the suspect, Joseph Tomassi, was located and arrested without incident. Also inside the house was Tomassi’s wife and 4 year old child. Two semi automatic pistols along with ammunition was found and recovered from a hidden location. Tomassi, who is a convicted felon, was booked at the Big Bear Sheriff Station Jail. The Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the numerous residents living near the scene who reported the incident, and participated in the investigation. The Sheriff’s Department also stated that without such strong community support this suspect would not have been located and arrested.
