Big Bear, Ca, October 17, 2011, 4:00pm – The Big Bear High School Football team has something to cheer about, after they set a state record at last Friday’s football game against Desert Hot Springs. The game went into overtime eight times, with game play finally ending at 11:20pm. The Bears won the game in the eighth overtime with a final score of 56-50 in the opening game for the De Anza League. The previous California state record for overtimes was a seven-overtime game in 1991. Coach Dave Griffiths was very proud of the team, and stated that this game was one of the best games he has ever been involved with. The Bear’s next game will be against Yucca Valley this coming Saturday. KBHR congratulates the Bears, and wishes them luck this season.
