Fans of former Bears football MVP Kriss Proctor should be excited to hear that the Navy’s backup quarterback is scheduled to take to the field for the second time this season—you may recall that in his debut for the Midshipmen two weeks ago, Proctor scored three touchdowns in the second half, bringing Navy to a 63-14 victory over Rice and earning him the Naval Academy’s Offensive Player of the Week. Following that performance, Coach Ken Niumatalolo said “I am very excited about him.” So excited, in fact, that Proctor is slated to be the starting quarterback for the Navy when they take on Wake Forest in a home game tomorrow, Saturday. Proctor will be stepping in for junior Ricky Dobbs, sidelined due to injury—but, as Proctor told The Washington Post this week, “I love Ricky just as much as my own brother [Scott, a senior at Concordia]. And I love my own brother more than most, so that’s saying a lot about Ricky. I want Ricky to succeed as much as I want to succeed. That’s the brotherhood we have here.” The Navy/Wake Forest game is scheduled to air on the CBS College Sports Network at 3:30pm Eastern Time on the 24th, though the 19-year-old sophomore will have his Big Bear cheering section nearby, as parents Kenny and Sandie Proctor and friends Ron and Julie Conger plan to attend the game. Meanwhile, here at home, the Bears play Citrus Valley on Minder Field at BBMS, in football games scheduled for 10:45am and 1:30pm.
