This Saturday was a big day for Big Bear football. For starters, the Bears junior varsity squad won their game against Citrus Valley in a score of 28-0. The Bears varsity football team also shut out Citrus Valley, winning the game on Minder Field in a score of 42-0. Bears Head Coach Dave Griffiths says, “We are very proud of this group that has worked hard, and continues to work hard. We return to De Anza League action this week, when we play Desert Mirage on Friday night in Thermal, California.” Saturday’s momentum on the field was furthered by highlights of the Navy/Wake Forest game, in which former Bear Kriss Proctor was the starting quarterback for the Navy’s Midshipmen, who ultimately won the game 13-10, with Proctor running in a 40-yard touchdown. Adds Griffiths, “Kriss won his first college start, and we’re very proud of him. It’s was cool, during Saturday’s game, Phil Hamilton kept announcing the Navy score, and it made for a very exciting day for Big Bear football.”
