Big Bear Lake, CA – Bear Valley Electric Service has completed construction on relocating three miles of power poles and electrical wires to state-of-the-art underground conduits along Big Bear Boulevard.
The project, conducted in tandem with sidewalk upgrades by the City of Big Bear Lake, improves safety, reliability and aesthetics along Big Bear’s main tourist thoroughfare. Compared to above-
ground transmission lines stretched between utility poles, underground power lines last longer, require less maintenance and are better protected from damage due to weather, car crashes and animals.
BVES Director Paul Marconi sated, “We want to thank the community for its patience and cooperation as we worked on this important undergrounding project to improve public safety and protect the reliability of our local power service. I sincerely appreciate the hard work of all the BVES staff and construction crews who were involved in this significant project which removed dozens of weathered power poles that dated back to the 1970s.”
To celebrate the completion of Bear Valley Electric Services’ undergrounding project, BVES will be hosting a switch throwing ceremony on Tuesday, July 18th, at 2:00 pm at the Switchgear site which is located between CVS and Union Bank.
