The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District has been gearing up for the summer season and, reports Regional Manager Reese Troublefield, “Both the Sugarloaf Park and Meadow Park have new lights, new fencing, new dugouts, new infield material, and look really awesome.” These projects will be of benefit to both kids and adults at either end of the Valley, he adds. Other projects of the Recreation and Park District will be discussed this evening, when the district’s Advisory Commission meets at 5pm for their monthly meeting, to be held at the Big Bear Senior Center. Prior to meeting at 5pm, members of the Recreation and Park District Commission will meet with the park sub-committee of the Big Bear City Community Services District at 4pm, to review public comments submitted last night with regard to potential uses for the former Big Bear City Park. Sugarloaf resident Bob Ybarra had attended the public forum on Bear City Park yesterday evening and made it to the CSD Board of Directors meeting before that wrapped to report on the just-wrapped park meeting, noting (in a non-official capacity), “I’m so encouraged by this meeting. Paradise Park is not dead.”
