Two Big Bear High School seniors have initiated their senior project, which will culminate with a walk for the cure along the Alpine Pedal Path this Sunday, April 5. BBHS students Krystyn Bailey and Becca Kern invite the community to walk with them and/or make a tax-deductible donation to support two causes close to their hearts. Bailey explains, “I have a younger brother with autism. Having seen the effects this condition causes in the life of the person who has it, and in those who love them, I would like to raise money for the Doug Flutie Foundation to help further research for a cure for autism.” For her part, Kern says, “I would like to raise money for the National Colorectal Cancer Research Association in hopes of research for a cure. I feel that colorectal cancer is a subject that people often push aside, and is a bigger problem than our community may realize.” There is no cost to participate in Sunday’s walk, which launches from the East Boat Launch Ramp at 1pm (sign-ups start at 11:30am). Adds Bailey, “We invite anyone who has been touched by the life of someone with one of these disorders, and would like to make a contribution of any amount toward finding a cure, to come walk alongside us on April 5th. This will not be a professionally organized event but, rather, a venture by two high school students hoping to make a difference in the lives of others.” For more information, please call 585-3275. If unable to participate in the walk, but still want to make a donation:

EIF’s National Colorectal Cancer Research Association
(checks can be made out to either of the above)
