Professional cycling stars Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer will be in the Big Bear Valley in May, as both are scheduled to participate in the 2010 Amgen Tour of California, billed as the biggest biking event in North America and now on par with the Tour de France. Big Bear will provide a high-altitude finish on the eight-day, 750-mile race, as riders cycle their way here from Pasadena on May 21st. Participating host cities are expected to collectively benefit from an estimated economic impact of more than $200 million and, in an effort to share with Big Bear business owners how they can get involved, the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce will host an Amgen presentation by Chamber Chairman Ken Dally at the Chamber Power Breakfast, to be held at the Big Bear Best Western Chateau on Thursday, January 7. The 7am Power Breakfast will also include a Goldsprints stationary bike competition (including prizes), hosted by Bear Valley Bikes. Big Bear Chamber of Commerce Power Breakfasts are open to everyone, at a cost of $12 for Chamber members and $15 for guests.
