Big Bear, Ca, October 7, 2010, 12:00pm – There are 481 incorporated cities and towns in California, making it a difficult task for organizers of the Amgen Tour of California to select only 15 host cities for the 2011 Amgen Tour of California professional cycling race. This year Big Bear Lake was not selected due to logistical planning. Organizers of the race however affirm Big Bear is on their radar for a long-term partnership, and plan to return for future races. “Big Bear Lake is easily regarded as one of the best stage finishes ever! Its local organizing committee went well beyond the call of duty to put together an extremely well organized event this year,” said Andrew Messick, president of AEG Sports. “It’s unfortunate we weren’t able to fit Big Bear into this year’s race logistics. We consider Big Bear a top choice for future races, and we look forward to working with the community of Big Bear again.” Rick Shoup, Director of the Big Bear Lake Resort Association, and member of last years local organizing committee for the tour told KBHR that he is confident that Amgen will return to Big Bear in the future. The 2011 Amgen Tour of California will travel to 15 host cities throughout the state over the course of eight days from May 15-22, 2011. Stages for the 2011 Amgen Tour of California include:

Stage 6: Solvang Individual Time Trial
Stage 7: Claremont to Mt. Baldy
Stage 8: Santa Clarita to Thousand Oaks
