Big Bear, CA, July 10, 2015 – On June 25, 2015, the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station received information from a private citizen reporting a suspicious male subject walking in a field near the 1300 block of Midway Blvd. in Big Bear City. The subject was reported to be inquiring with local residents about a television he purportedly found in the bushes. Deputies arrived at the location and identified the subject as Patrick Rinderknecht. At that time, there was no record of the television being stolen or burglaries in the immediate area.
Two weeks later, the private citizen noticed a call in the Sheriff’s Log regarding a burglary that was reported on July 2 at a vacation home in the same area. At approximately 8:45 p.m. on July 8, deputies made contact with Rinderknecht at a local storage unit to conduct follow up investigation. When Rinderknecht opened the door, deputies observed additional stolen property from the reported burglary inside the storage unit.
Suspect Patrick Rinderknecht was taken into custody without incident and booked on felony charges of burglary. Rinderknecht remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail, with an arraignment hearing set for today in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
The arrest of Patrick Rinderknecht is a direct result of citizen attention. The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is appreciative of our community partners who report suspicious activity and help to deter crime in our local neighborhoods.
