Big Bear, Ca, July 1, 2011, 12:00pm – This 4th of July weekend is full of activities and events for the whole family. Join your friends at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center for the Big Bear Lake Independence Day Festival. This Saturday through Monday you can enjoy live entertainment, arts & crafts, children’s activities, and BBQ food. The three day festival will open its doors at 10:00 each day, and will also feature a petting zoo, and unique hand made arts and crafts. On Saturday and Sunday, kids of any age can visit the Moonridge Animal Park and take part in the 23rd annual Zoocasion, where kids can participate in a walk around the park quiz, and enter in a drawing contest. The Animal Park opens daily at 10am. For those that want to enjoy the great outdoors, the third Seven Summits Hike will take place Saturday morning, where hikers will make the climb to the top of Gold Mountain. This hike is 8.5 miles, and will meet at the intersection of the Pacific Crest Trail and Holcomb Valley Road at 8am. Hikers are reminded to bring a hat, sturdy shoes, snacks and water.
