Big Bear Lake, CA, May 2, 2014 – For nearly a decade, community organizations in Big Bear have been working together to create a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS) via the annual Walk MS event. Past supporters will be gratified to know that local fundraising efforts are making a tangible impact by supporting direct programs and services for the approximately 4,200 people with MS and their families in the Inland Empire. Aside from meeting immediate needs, the funds also support global research to restore function of the central nervous system to those who have been afflicted by this chronic disease. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with the majority of them women.
This year, Wells Fargo presents the MS Walk on Saturday, May 3 on the Alpine Pedal Path that winds along the lakeshore. Over 500 walkers and volunteers are expected to help raise at least $40,000. And they’ll have a good time doing it, with a finish festival featuring live music, face painters, team booths and sponsor giveaways.
