Big Bear, CA, May 18, 2013 – In a press release issued this afternoon by the Public Affair’s Department of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. Karen Dalman was reported missing by a friend. On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, Karen and her friend had gone to the area of Crystal Mountain for a day hike and became separated. After two days of walking her friend found his way back to his car and immediately reported Karen missing. A search and rescue operation began and has been ongoing since Thursday morning. Today, a team of ground search members located the body of a deceased female in the area approximately one mile from where the search began. It is in a remote area, at mid-elevation in a natural drainage. An investigation will be conducted by Big Bear Station personnel, along with the Coroner who will conduct an autopsy to confirm her identity and the cause of death.
