[UPDATE] – The man killed in the officer involved shooting was 56 year-old David Andrew Gaston.
[ORIGINAL STORY] – Valley of Enchantment, CA, November 13, 2012, 8am – Sheriff’s Deputies from the Twin Peaks station were called to assist the fire department at a residential fire Monday at about 10am. While responding to the home on Redwood Way in Valley of Enchantment, deputies were getting information from the reporting party that there were weapons and possibly explosives inside the home. When deputies arrived a man was leaving the house through a back door. Deputies went to the back of the home and located the man coming toward them. They ordered him to stop and show his hands. He refused to comply and continued toward the officers while reaching into his waistband. Deputies fired shots at the suspect, medical aid responded immediately and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released. Several other family members were at the residence and an adult female was transported to a local hospital for unknown reasons. Updated information will be released as it becomes available.
