Running Springs, CA, October 23, 2012, 8am – UPDATE: The San Bernardino County Coroner’s report incorrectly listed the name of Robert McCown as the Big Bear resident involved in the accident. According to family members, the correct spelling of his name is Richard “Rick” Mccown. KBHR apologizes to the family for this error. On October 22, 2012 at about 2:50pm, 33 year-old Juan Navarro from Pomona was driving a semi tractor trailer southbound on State Highway 330 just south of call box 346 in the Running Springs area and collided with a northbound 2005 Acura driven by 59 year-old Robert “Rick” Mccown from Big Bear Lake. Paramedics and CHP responded and both were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
