Big Bear, CA, August 15, 2012, 3:00pm – The English Department of Big Bear High School is spearheading a pilot program at the Freshman and Sophomore levels to help increase reading and comprehension scores thanks to the parent volunteer group, PSA. PSA, or Parents in Support of Academics, was established several years ago to help fund needs at Big Bear High School that the District or school could not afford otherwise. The PSA donated 15 iPads and cases to high school teachers Lisa Waner and Mike Harrison’s English classes. The iPads and cases were purchased from funds raised at the PSA’s 4th Annual Silent Auction held at Nottingham’s Restaurant last April. District Funds or Measure Q money was not used in any way to support this pilot program. The Parents in Support of Academics parent group will be holding their first meeting for the school year tonight at 5:30pm in the Media Room at Big Bear High School and is open to all parents of high school students.
