Big Bear Lake, CA, July 20, 2012, 8:00am – History Alive … Chautauqua, presented by the Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library, will feature the historical character Zane Grey, portrayed by a professional Chautauqua performer, David Fenimore. Zane Grey was a superstar, a literary celebrity, earning the equivalent in today’s dollars of as much as five million a year. He owned homes, cabins, and ranches all over the West, and traveled the world hunting, fishing, and researching his next Western novel. David Fenimore was born and raised in Philadelphia. For the past 17 years he has taught undergraduate courses in literature, writing, and the humanities and now directs the undergraduate program in English at the University of Nevada, Reno. The event, celebrating the spirit of the Old Miners, will be held on July 28, 2012 at 7pm. Sponsored by the Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library, it will be performed at the Summit Christian Fellowship Church across the street from the Library. After the performance a reception will take place at the Library. This is a community service program, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, and there is no charge for admission. Reservations are not necessary but early arrival is strongly recommended.
