Lucerne Valley, CA, June 25, 2012, 3pm – The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works has started making road improvements at the intersection of Highland Road and State Highway 18 in the Lucerne Valley area. The project includes construction of a right-turn lane on eastbound State Highway 18 (SH-18). Highland Road is a paved road that intersects Highway 18 at a right angle. Traffic currently traveling on Highway 18 has to slow down significantly when a vehicle makes a right turn onto Highland Road. The project will enhance circulation for through traffic to maintain regular speed as motorists will be able to move out of the through traffic lane when making a right turn. Sully-Miller Contracting Company will construct the $229,618 project scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2012. The construction working hours will be 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. Flaggers will keep traffic flowing one way, each way, during working hours. The road improvements are financed by Proposition 1B funds and Facilities Development Plan funds.
