Big Bear Lake, CA, April 30, 2012, 8:00am – The Breakthrough Task Force has been looking for ways to encourage a reduction in the number arrests for DUI that take place in Big Bear valley. One effective tool that has been successfully used in other areas is a “Designated Driver” campaign. In an effort to keep our streets safe, the Breakthrough Task Force is asking local businesses that serve alcohol to incorporate a “Designated Driver” program for their patrons if they do not already have one in place. Designated Driver programs allow a Designated Driver to receive free non-alcoholic beverages for the course of an evening. In addition to these measures, and in order to raise the effectiveness of this program locally, the Breakthrough Task Force is looking for valley merchants to support the program by allowing a pre-determined discount at their businesses to recognize Designated Drivers that are willing to ensure safety on our streets when celebrating. If you or your business would like to participate in the campaign, contact the Breakthrough Task Force at Big Bear Recovery Services.
