Big Bear, Ca, March 23, 2011, 12:00pm – Tax day is quickly approaching, and KBHR wants to remind property owners and residents of tax deadlines and tax resources within the Big Bear Valley. The deadline for property taxes is April 11th, and April 18th is the deadline for taxpayers. The standard deadline of April 15th was changed to the 18th due to Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia that falls on the 15th this year. All taxpayers will have three extra days to file their taxes this year. If you are a senior, there is an AARP Tax Program in association with the IRS that is providing free tax preparation for taxpayers with simple tax returns. Special attention is being given to those 60 and older through this program, however, it is open to all taxpayers with simple returns. Appointments can be scheduled every Monday until April 11th from 10am to 2pm at the Big Bear Valley Senior Center.
