The Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake will host its thirteenth annual “Eagle of Excellence” Community Service Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Sunday, May 23rd at the Northwoods Resort.
The dinner and awards ceremony is dedicated to honoring members of the Big Bear community that exhibit a very high caliber of professionalism, enthusiasm, work ethic and commitment to service, not only in their vocational field, but also in how they demonstrate excellence in the personal giving of time, energy and influence on others within the Bear Valley community.
Since the Rotary Club began this program in 1998, over 65 individuals, mostly non-Rotarians, have been honored with the “Eagle of Excellence” award. The award includes a distinctive pin and commemorative trophy. This year’s nominees include a distinguished group of Bear Valley residents from a variety of professions. The 2010 group of honorees include:

Ronald B. Peavy–educator, former BVUSD Superintendent and currently Rim of the World Superintendent; Rotarian (past President and longtime co-chair of July 4th BBQ); member of the Bear Valley Community Hospital District Board; and dedicated community volunteer.
Dr. Steve Schour–longtime Principal of Chautauqua High School; accomplished musician, community volunteer; creator of many special programs in the BVUSD to aid students; and a concerned and caring professional educator who goes the extra mile for his students.

Lambert–longtime local Pharmacist in the community; Rotarian (two time past President, longtime co-chair of July 4th BBQ, chair of Big Bear Idol); member of the First Mountain Bank Board of Directors; member of the City Planning Commission; and a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for Big Bear High School sports teams and facilities.
The Eagle of Excellence Awards dinner will be held in the main ballroom of the Northwoods Resort starting with social hour at 5PM on May 23, 2010. Dinner will be served at 6PM with introductions and the program to follow. Dress is black tie optional. The cost is $50 per person. The program will feature a multi media presentation by Big Bear Productions and will highlight the accomplishments, career and family of each recipient. The Rotary Club will also introduce its six 2010 Rotary Scholarship winners to those in attendance.
