Big Bear, Ca, September 6, 2011, 12:00am – The 12th Annual Big Bear Lake Cleanup Day will take place Saturday September 17th from 9AM to Noon. Groups or organizations that are interested in participating in the clean can call the clean up coordinator, Alan Sharp, and will be assigned a spot along the lake. Sharp told KBHR that this year to decrease the trash imprint, participants are encouraged to bring their own buckets, bags and gloves to the trash pick up. Also new this year, the North Shore Trading Company and Mountain Fitness Center are teaming up to help clean up the lake, by utilizing kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards to collect trash on the lake. If you do not have self propelled water craft and want to participate with the lake clean up, Big Bear Marina will have some kayak’s, canoes, and SUP’s available for use. To participate in the lake clean up call Mountain Fitness at 866-7020. Those who are interested in participating as an individual or with a friend can meet at Juniper Point on clean up day, and will be assigned a spot in that area to clean up. To sign your group or organization up, call Alan Sharp at 866-3218.
