USGS Records Two Earthquakes in Our Area Today

earthquake-thumb1We just had an earthquake in our area this afternoon. The 1.7 magnitude quake was centered seven miles northwest of Big Bear City at 1:24pm, and registered a depth of just over four miles. Earlier today, just before 8am, there was a 2.0 magnitude quake which, per the U.S. Geological Survey, was centered just southeast of Lucerne Valley and about 12 miles north of Big Bear City.
