One of Big Bear’s own is making his mark on the national snowboarding circuit. Eighteen-year-old Tucker Norred, a 2008 Big Bear High School graduate and now a freshman at Sierra Nevada College in Tahoe, competed in the 31st USCSA National Championships over the weekend in Winter Park, Colorado. Not only did Norred’s college team take first in the Collegiate Snowboard Association championships, but Norred placed fifth in the half-pipe and first overall in the slopestyle. These finishes place him as second overall for collegiate snowboarders and now Norred, son of Billy and Jani, has earned a place on the All-American Snowboarding Team for both slope and pipe.
