Big Bear Lake, CA, May 23, 2013 – General Surgeon Dr. Arturo T. Santos MD FACS, has returned to the mountain, seeing patients in Big Bear Lake at Dr. Mike Norman’s office by appointment. He will be performing surgeries at Bear Valley Community Hospital on an elective basis.
Dr. Santos received his medical education at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, the Philippines. He trained and completed his General Surgery residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York and at St. Joseph Medical Center in Maryland.
He has been a Board Certified General Surgeon since 1978, actively improving his practice of medicine through continuing education for the past 35 years. As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), his education, training, professional qualifications, surgical competence and ethical conduct have been evaluated and found to be consistent with the high standards of the ACS.
He specializes in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries, which include endoscopy and surgeries on upper and lower hernias, breasts, thyroid, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, appendix, gallbladder, hemorrhoids, spleen and more.
Some benefits of laparoscopic surgery are less incidence of infection, reduced pain due to smaller incisions, minimal blood loss and shorter recovery time.
