Big Bear City, CA, February 19, 2016 – Yesterday, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station arrested Francisco Fuentes Salinas, who was wanted on a no bail warrant for violation of probation terms in connection with a 2007 criminal case of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. On February 7, 2007, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of illegal sex acts committed by Francisco Salinas against a 15-year-old female. As a result of the investigation, Salinas was arrested and booked into the Big Bear Jail. At the time of the original arrest, Salinas was determined to be in the U.S. illegally.
Salinas was convicted on the sex crimes charge in April, 2007, sentenced to one year in jail, and placed on probation. Upon release, he was deported out of the United States. Salinas failed to comply with the terms of his probation and, in January, 2008, a no bail warrant was issued against him. Since that time, Salinas has re-entered the United States illegally.
Through continued investigation, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station were able to determine the current whereabouts of Francisco Salinas. Deputies made contact with Salinas during the early morning hours of February 18 at his residence in Big Bear City. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Big Bear Jail on the felony warrant. Salinas remains in custody without the possibility of bail. An arraignment hearing in this matter is set for today in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
