At last night’s meeting of the Board of Trustees for Bear Valley Unified School District, Dr. Nancy Wright of Colorado was named the new superintendent of schools. Dr. Wright will join BVUSD on October 19; the district’s interim Superintendent Dr. Rudy Macioge will remain with the district until that time to assist in the transition.
Per the statement issued by BVUSD this morning: “At its regular meeting on September 16, 2009, the Governing Board of Bear Valley Unified School District appointed Dr. Nancy Wright as Superintendent of Schools for the District. The Board’s action was by unanimous vote. Wright’s selection was the culmination of an extensive nationwide search conducted by the Board and assisted by the office of San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
Wright comes to Bear Valley after a thirty-year professional career in education in the State of Colorado. She has served as a teacher for over ten years, in various administrative positions for 12 years, and as a highly successful superintendent for eight years.
After extensive paper screening, reference checks and interviews, representatives of the Board and the County Superintendent visited the communities of Littleton and Manitou Springs, Colorado, where Wright had served a combined period of nine years. They interviewed over forty individuals including community members, parents, teachers, students, principals, district administrators, school staff, and board members. The visitation team consistently heard high praise and accolades regarding Dr. Wright and felt that she is an excellent match for the Bear Valley community.
While serving as superintendent of the small mountain community of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Wright was directly responsible for the passage of a bond measure that financed the modernization of the district’s schools, as well as a state-of-the-art technology and performing and visual arts center.
Wright will take the helm of the District effective October 19, 2009.”
