An accident on the train tracks in Loma Linda just after 1am this morning has resulted in the death of Johnny Rogers, a 45-year-old identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Department as a resident of Big Bear. Per a statement issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department: “On Tuesday, June 23 at 1:14am, a Union Pacific train was traveling east through the City of Loma Linda, just north of Stewart Avenue and west of Anderson Street, when it struck a white male adult who was seated on the train tracks. The train’s engineer saw the subject sitting on the tracks and saw him moving just prior to the impact and emergency stopping procedures were initiated. The engineer estimated the train’s speed at approximately 20-25 miles per hour when the subject was first observed on the tracks. Rogers, who was later identified by a California identification card and fingerprints, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Loma Linda Fire Department. Deputies from the Loma Linda Police Department and investigators from the Sheriff’s Coroner Division are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rogers’s death.”
